But, What About?

2025) There is so much about God I don’t understand, especially when reading verses like these:

Psalm 34:17–When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles.

Philippians 4:19–My God will supply every need.

Matthew 11:28- Come to me…and I will give you rest.

Matthew 19:26–With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.

When I read these verses, my mind goes immediately to, but what about??? It seems I’m very good at refuting these words, but these thoughts are honest ones.

But what about the time I asked you to help, and all I heard was silence?

But what about when I needed help, and it didn’t come until years later?

But what about the times I cried myself to sleep, barely getting by on a few hours of rest?

But what about when I need you to show up and do the “impossible” but you don’t?

I think the God I know does not condemn me for thinking these things. He knows my limitations and has shown me a verse to help in these times.

Isaiah 55:8: For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.

I understand this to mean there are times when I cannot (or will not) understand why God does some things but not others. When this happens, I can remind myself that what God thinks and what God does isn’t always understood in this life. This is why I must cling to faith, helping me to get through difficult situations.

And don’t forget: I will never leave you nor forsake you. Hebrews 13:5-6.
