1992) When the burdens of this life lay upon our shoulders, a natural response is to ask, why? I think many of us ask this question because if we can understand the why, we can endure the present. Another question we often ask is, where is God? In these difficult times, God’s children can forget the promises of Joshua 1:9 and Romans 8:9. Joshua 1:9 reveals to us God is with us everywhere we go. He is not removed from our situation as he sits up in heaven on his throne, with arms crossed and thinking, let’s see what my child will do under these circumstances. He is beside us each step of the way. Paul tells us in Romans 8:9 that God’s holy spirit also dwells within his children. He groans on our behalf from deep within. Romans 8:26. Putting both of these verses together, we need to remember God is with us and within us. If we could visually see this, how would our lives be different? Finally, it’s important to note there are no verses in the Bible which tell us God will take away all the pain, hurt and misery in this life; only that in the next one, he will wipe away every tear. (Revelation 21:4)
By faith, that God keeps his word, we can bear the weight on our shoulders because God is with and within us.
