More Than One Shepherd

1990) If you have a general knowledge of the Bible, you know that the Lord is (our) shepherd (Psalm 23:1) There’s also the fact that Jesus said in John 10:11 he is the Good Shepherd, laying down his life for the sheep. Over and over Jesus metaphorically says he is our shepherd, but have you considered he’s not the only shepherd out there?

Jeremiah 50:6 tells us other shepherds exist, motivated simply to turn us from the Shepherd. Why does this matter?

If you think back throughout history, there have been many evil people (and many who are more subtle than that) who were and are determined to lure people into their trap. This allows the false shepherds to manipulate, control, and dominate. Many are successful because they often find grains of truth to flaunt before our eyes, and once we partake of this grain, it’s hard to turn away from their beguiling methods.

It’s important that we listen with discerning ears to those who position themselves in places of authority. The Good Shepherd is always good and acting on our behalf . This shepherd laid down his life for us. False shepherds do not and will not do this.
