1947) In the fall each year, one of my groups of young scholars read a book whose setting is in the citrus growing business. They are exposed to how varieties of fruit are developed and more.
As I read Mark 7:21-23, I think of this because these verses describe what kind of fruit unredeemed humans grow within. It says here that out of their hearts grows, evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. Not too surprising if you take the time to watch human nature.
What a contrast this is to the fruit grown from God’s spirit within us. They include love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Galatians 5:22-23.
It’s interesting to note that we have the choice of which kinds of fruit we want to produce.
Which fruit are you producing?
P.S. Have a Merry Christmas. Thank you for being faithful readers and encouragers.
