1935) Every year, I get to take my young scholars on ropes courses. It’s usually a day that’s filled with adrenaline and success. I used to get up there and do it all with them but now, even though I am completely harnessed and safe, my feelings of dread, and, yes, fear fill me.
Proverbs 18:10 tells us the righteous person runs to God for safety. It makes me think of the ropes courses. Yes, I’m safe, but often don’t feel safe. These are two different things.
I am safe because God lifts me up. The Hebrew word for safe means to be set up securely. This means we can trust God to help us and do what’s the absolute best in any situation concerning us. What it doesn’t mean is we’ll always feel safe when he does.
