1929) One way I approach verses which are familiar to me is to think about what the verse doesn’t mean. Confused? Let’s look at Proverbs 15:22.
This verse tells us without council plans fail, but with many advisers, they succeed. (ESV) What the verse doesn’t tell us is to solely ask other people what we should do because the results of our decisions lie with us.
What this verse does tell us is to seek council from trusted others, but remember, ultimately, we will make the decision, and we will reap the consequences, good or bad.
Seeking council is good but asking so we don’t bear the consequences isn’t.
