1923) I was talking with someone recently and he commented on the fact that when he talked with his kids about drugs, he emphasized the danger is that they make you feel good (at least at first).
It would be easy to think, how can something that makes me feel good be bad? Of course, thinking adults should know that many things start out making us feel good that are actually destructive. One of these things is found in 1 Timothy 6:10.
Money and the accumulation of things has the ability to make a person feel good on multiple levels, but Satan has taken that feeling and used it as an effective lie to those who aren’t on guard. He will make it seem that we will be so much better off if we just had a little more. A big lie!
Are money and other things bad? I don’t think so, but Timothy tells us it’s the love of money that is the root of all evil.
Being on the watch for these things that do feel good in the moment it vital. We should also remind ourselves that Satan loves to use initial contentment to lure us onto a path that produces nothing that’s good.
