1881) Imagine a group of your peers, or even a group that just knows who you are and someone brings up your name. What kind of conversation will take place? Will they remember your work ethic? Your character? Will there be disdain in their words? Something to think about, isn’t it?
In Matthew 16:15, Jesus brings up his name in a conversation he has with his students. He asks them who those outside of their group say Jesus is. The students make suggestions like, John the Baptist, Elijah or Jeremiah. Peter said Jesus is the Messiah.
If you think about Jesus’ question, you can see how we view him makes all the difference in how you perceive and receive him. We need a Messiah and not simply a preacher, “sign” performer and prophet. What is Messiah needed for? Forgiveness and reconciliation. God offers this to us for free because it cost Him so much.
Do you have the correct answer if someone asks you, “Who do you say I am?”
