A Difficult Balance

1746) I used to have a unicycle and learned to ride it, after many mishaps. It’s an object which requires balance to operate it. I can remember holding on to railings slightly behind me to gain a balanced beginning and from then on, it became easier.

Proverbs 25:16 speaks of balance, too. It says if you find honey, eat only enough for you. If you don’t, you’ll become sick from it. If you read a verse like this one, it’s easy to just let your eyes skim over it before giving it any thought, but let’s not do that today.

When I read this verse, I again think of balance. It’s not that honey or many other things are bad, it’s just when we give them too much of our attention, it means there are other things we’re not attending to.

We need balance in our lives. Even Jesus took breaks from his ministry to go off alone to meditate on God’s word and pray.

Too much of most things aren’t good for us. God-given wisdom helps us stay in balance.
