A Need For Silence

1744) For many years, I was not a morning person, but that changed when we adopted our first dog. Through the years, I’ve had 4-legged alarm clocks. For some reason, my dogs have decided if they’re up, we all need to be up. Therefore, I am now a morning person.

I like early morning because there’s calm before the business of the day shows its face. It’s at this time I like to walk and spend time thinking and praying. The silence (or non-distractions) makes this possible.

In Mark 1:35, Jesus spends time alone for contemplation and prayer and he often did it in the morning.

Do I think the morning is the only “right” time for these things? No. I think the point is that we find a time when and where we can be quiet and spend time with God.

Jesus made it a priority and we should, too.
