1633) Have you ever been working at something at your desk and searched everywhere for your pencil only to discover that it is behind your ear? If someone were to witness this, they may tell you it’s obvious where your pen is. That’s because some things are obvious to others that we often overlook (or can’t see as well.) This is perhaps one reason Jesus uttered the words we read in Matthew 7:3.
This Sermon on the Mount verse reminds us we need to be careful because it’s easy to see and point out the faults (or sin) of others but we need to first “look” at ourselves and see if we need to work on this first.
God is good at dealing with others. Let’s concentrate on our own eyesight and what it can reveal.
