1628) There is a lot of inaccurate information in our culture about angels. One misconception is when people die, they become angels. You will not find this concept anywhere in the bible. Another one is that an angelic form of Saint Peter is going to be waiting at the gate of heaven, and he will decide if you enter. Also not biblical. There is a concept, however, that is close to being accurate and it concerns guardian angels.
Psalm 91:11 tells us God commands his angels to watch over us. This is a wonderful concept, but, as always, I think deeper into things. One thing that occurs to me is if God has his angels watching over me, why does bad stuff happen to me? Good question. The enlightened answer is, I also don’t know what could have happened to me but didn’t.
It is not difficult to trust God when it’s easy, but trusting his word, even about angels’ responsibilities, takes faith and works (effort).
