Who Chose Whom?

1597) For those of you who are animal lovers, you know the time of “picking out” the kitten or puppy from the litter is an important one. The two times I have picked out a puppy, I distinctly wanted a specific color and sex of the animal. I also wanted to be sure my “pick” would be of a good personality for our home. The problem with this sort of choice is you can’t possibly know much about what the puppy may grow up to be, personality-wise and even health-wise.

Sometimes, as is true with Cayce, our current dog, the choice is even more limited. I asked for a red/chocolate male dachshund and the breeder chose from her litters. I really didn’t know what his personality was like, nor if he was a barker. But, can you really know much about these things even when you do the entire choosing?

Considering this type of choosing and our faith, Jesus said something interesting in John 15:16. Here he tells us we didn’t choose him but he chose us. What’s even more thought-provoking is he knew everything about us before we were even born. He knew what would be the good, the bad, and even the ugly, and he still chose us.

Take a minute to reflect on the fact that God chose you, the whole package deal, and he would do it again, over and over and over again.

Rejoice. You are chosen.
