1590) We all have preconceived ideas of what God is like. We develop these ideas from our upbringing, the way authority figures treat us, and our observations of those who claim to be God’s children.

What is God like? I don’t think there are any words that would even come close to describing him. Therefore, he’s given us a few glimpses and I want to focus on one found in Isaiah 40:11.

Here Isaiah describes God as acting like a good shepherd. He writes that God is one who gathers his lambs gently in his arms and carries them around with him. These things show me protection, patience, and how much God values us.

Just think, the God of all the universe reaches down to hold us. We have a God who has gentle power.
