We Can’t See Everything

1524) I am so grateful I was raised going to church and learning from God’s word. One of the Bible verses I can remember from my childhood is the last part of Deuteronomy 31:6. It says, “(I) will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” Good words to learn early.

I think faith is easier to come by as a child. I had no problem standing up and truthfully stating I believed those words. As an adult, however, it’s not so simple, at least for me. It’s not that I don’t believe God will never leave me nor forsake me, but I’ve lived enough of life to know bad things happen to God’s people. What about then? Has God left me or forsaken me?

Many have asked this question, and it’s an understandable one. For me, I have to remind myself that I can’t see everything. What do I mean? The first thing that comes to mind is when God opened Elisha’s eyes in 2 Kings 6:17-20 and he saw the hills full of spiritual beings on horses and chariots. If these spiritual beings were all around Elisha, why wouldn’t they be all around me?

The second thing that comes to mind is that I am so close to my situations, it’s difficult to see the entire picture. It’s like I’m looking at one puzzle piece and determining what the puzzle picture is without seeing the whole.

We are told God will not leave us nor forsake us and we have God’s word to remind us of this as illustrated in the lives of these people within. We can also look and see that God has been with us throughout our entire life.

Reminding ourselves that we can’t see everything might be helpful.
