Divine Gifts

1504) I have a friend who is a gifted pianist. He has played around the world and many have heard and appreciated his gift. The amazing thing about this friend is he has hand tremors; sometimes so bad he struggles to play the notes in his music. It is amazing to me to see his hands shaking and yet, he still produces such a beautiful sound.

These thoughts came to mind when I read John 9:1-3. Here we find a man born blind and his disciples ask if it results from a punishment. Jesus answers them, saying that God has allowed this difficulty to show the glory of God.

What glory can come from someone born blind? From a public speaker who is terribly shy? From a mentally ill person whose field of expertise is psychology? From someone who is a concert pianist?

The answer to these questions can be that despite all these difficulties, God can show his power and beauty. It becomes much more obvious that the person isn’t doing these things on his or her own power, but with God’s.

Take a look at someone who has a divine gift and see how God’s power can be seen despite human frailty. It will amaze you.
