1481) I have mentioned before that watching the news or reading my newsfeeds can be extremely disheartening. I know it’s the job of journalists to report what is going on and that “bad” news sells more than good, but it gets to be so discouraging. I see anger, hurt, confusion, ruthlessness, unkindness, and more. I see these things as similar to the story of Pandora, who opened her box and all the evils of the world escaped, but if you know your mythology and your Bible well, there is hope. Not the hope a child wishes for. (I hope I get lots of toys for Christmas.) Instead, it is the belief and assurance that all the wrongs and unfairness of this life will be set right.
Revelation 12 tells of the behind-the-scenes activities of God’s and Satan’s sparring and it clearly reminds us that God is the winner and not Satan. It’s easy these days to think everything is out of control and, in some ways, this is true, but there is hope. God will be victorious.
Hope is a gift God has given us. We just need to make sure we check in on it regularly because its fruit will help us keep putting one foot in front of the other.
Thank God for hope!
