The Value of Trust

1375) Today’s minute focuses on trust. What is trust? This word is complicated, but because I prefer to be as simple as possible, I would define trust as reliability.

If you are reliable, you will do what you say. You are someone others can depend upon. You are someone with integrity, both publicly and privately. This simple definition reveals to me I am not always trustworthy, along with everyone else in this world. This unreliability that saturates our lives makes it easy to assume God is not trustworthy as well; that he is unreliable.

When we form our concept of God, based on what we see in ourselves and others, taking God at his word, believing he is trustworthy is difficult.

1 Peter 4:19 tells us God is entirely trustworthy and reliable. If he says something, it is the truth and it will be done. Unsure about this? Try taking God at his word and see if your life runs better.

“Taste and see that God is good.” (Psalm 34:8) Dare to do it today.
