3347) Of all the household jobs that need to be done, one of my least favorite is cleaning out the refrigerator. When I take everything out to clean the shelves, I will always find at least one thing that is rotten and needs to be thrown out. This is why I hate this job. Seeing the moldy, rotting things grosses me out.
Considering this, I have explored other areas that may harbor rotten things and have found one in Ephesians 4:29. Here, Paul admonishes us to not let unwholesome words pass our lips. This word, unwholesome, in the original Greek, means rotten.
The picture is clear to me. God does not want our words to be used for rotten purposes and when they are, what I find in the back of my refrigerator reflects this.
Using words appropriately helps us avoid having to clean up a rotten mess.
