I Want Justice!

1339) But, that’s not fair! I frequently hear these words in a classroom full of kids. But, if we’re honest, kids are not the only ones who demand fairness. Why did this happen to me when those around me don’t have to suffer? Why did I get pulled over for speeding when so many others are going faster than I am? Why can’t so-and-so understand me? Why did this happen to me? These questions really harbor the accusation toward God which says, That’s not fair!

There is some great news about our desire for justice, for things to be fair, and that is, God’s kingdom will be based on the foundation of fairness and justice. Hebrews 1:8.

When Jesus rules on his throne for eternity, there will be no more injustice. Because of his sacrificial death, we’re all on an equal playing field; we are all saved by grace alone.

No more will you be judged for what you did or didn’t do. “Random” disease and difficulties will no longer visit you, or anyone else, equally. There will be no more being misunderstood or ignored. You will always be valued, as is everyone else. There will be no more favoritism, pain, and conflict, equally. This will be the state of things for eternity.

The next time you hear, it’s not fair. Smile and thank God it will not always be the case.
