1326) My husband and I are alike in many ways, but there are also many ways we are not. What is a good way to spend an afternoon with me might be writing or sewing while my husband would say dirt biking. Two very different activities. Pointing out these differences is important because of what Paul says in Titus 3:1. He tells God’s children they need to do what is good.
The Greek word for good used here is agathos, which emphasizes that the good God wants us to do does not depend on whether it seems good to us or others. Confusing? Sometimes God allows difficult things to happen for our good and, many times, it doesn’t seem like it at the moment.
This also means that sometimes we need to make the hard decision to do something we know is good but doesn’t “feel” good at the moment. An example for me is when I need to confront another adult. I really hate confrontation but if it is for their good, (and mine as well) that I speak up, setting up healthy boundaries, I need to do it.
God wants us to be busy doing what is good. Are you up for it?
