Do Be: Obedient

1325) When you hear the word, “obey,” what do you think of? I can’t answer for you, but when I hear the word, I think of children and the expectations we have for them. But, what if the word, “obey,” should immediately conjure up an image of the expectations God has for adults, too.?

Paul tells us in Titus 3:1 that we are to be obedient. I must admit, this makes me feel a little uncomfortable. Do I need to obey traffic laws? Tax laws? Environmental guidelines? The answer is, as I know you know, yes! And the bottom line is, I’m guilty.

Is this a command that is important? If nothing else, it’s important because we are modeling behaviors to others and if others know we claim to be God’s children, then we are contradicting what we say we believe.

Obedience is important. Dare to make it a priority out of a love for God, not because of legalistic pride.
