1306) I had the privilege of attending Bible college, where I studied under many individuals who treated God’s word with integrity. Nothing was taught as truth that was not truth. There was no disguising a personal agenda with Biblical truth. We were also challenged to check the Bible ourselves to confirm this. I often did.
Though college was almost a lifetime ago for me, I still remember many things I learned. One of them is that I had a professor who would drill into us that no opposing things could both be true. If the shirt is red but someone calls it yellow, both descriptions cannot be true.
God’s word contains absolute truth. Jesus said he is the Way, the Truth and the Life. (John 14:6) The verse does not say Jesus is “a” way, “a” truth and “a” life.
Paul tells us in the last days, many will be unholy. This word unholy means to disregard what God has deemed sacred. These things include that people are created to be holy (or sacred). (1 Peter 2:9). People’s bodies are meant to be holy. (John 3:16). Marriages are holy. (Matt. 19:6) Sex is holy. (Hebrews 13:4). God’s name is holy. (Exodus 20:7). These are only a few examples.
If you do not know and belong to God, why should you care about your body (or the body of an unborn baby)? Why should you care about up keeping your body? Why place any value on marriage or even your religious training?
In the last days, people’s actions will come from the roots of a life that disregards the things God says are holy. Society will live what they believe (or don’t believe). We need to be aware of this so we can set ourselves apart from it.
It’s easy to become like the people we spend time with. Perhaps we need to consider this regularly. 2 Timothy 3:1-4
