Tattoos Considered

1287) Getting tattoos these days is common. I’ve seen many of these permanent pictures: animals, flowers, names and more. The thing I’ve always pondered is what do you do if you get someone’s name tattooed on you and then you both part ways, especially in embitterment? I know you can have the ink removed (which I hear is very painful) or rework it into another tattoo that disguises it, but this is something to consider.

When I think of this subject, my mind reflects on students I have had who write the name of someone they have a romantic interest in on their body. I wonder if they do this because it feels so good to belong to someone; to have someone in their lives who loves them.

In 2 Timothy 2:19, we see God has sealed his promises to his people and, on this seal, he has inscribed their names. Talk about the feeling of belonging and love! That God shows we are his in this manner can also imply he’s proud of having our names there. That is amazing!

Is your name written on this seal?
