God’s Justice: There Will Be a Day

1259) Because I’m such a visual learner, there are things I have seen that have struck me deeply. One of these things was while watching the mini-series, Roots. It’s been a while since I’ve seen it, but I vividly remember the part where the slave, Kunta Kinte, ran away from his slavery only to be caught shortly afterward. He was returned to his slavery and whipped brutally into submission. At the end of the scene, Kunta’s friend, Fiddler, cradles him in his arms and, with tears rolling down his cheeks, he tells his blood-soaked friend repeatedly, “there will be a day.” The echo of his words was, “One day, this world of pain, slavery and injustice will be no more. God will end it and set the captives free.”

Though our lives may not come close to mirroring the suffering within this period of history, sometimes we need someone to cradle us and whisper, “There will be a day.” Hold on; it’s coming. 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9 2 Peter 3:9
