1214) Through the years, I have enjoyed reading books and watching TV shows that feature investigations. I find it interesting to follow the individual who is searching for clues, interviewing suspects and drawing conclusions based upon what they find.
It’s good that I enjoy this because Paul urges us to be investigators in Colossians 3:1. He tells us to set our hearts on things above and the Greek word for “set” is zéteó, which means to investigate.
If we take this verse seriously, we discover God wants us to investigate all matters of things above, spiritual things, especially the next life. Investigation means we take an active part; we don’t sit back and passively wait for someone to tell us these things.
As a classroom teacher of many years, I have discovered that whenever a student does the work, investigates for himself, he gains far more than if the information is just handed to him. Take an active role; be an investigator.
