It’s Temporary

1164) Sometimes I, as a teacher, have needed to be out of school for a day. I have always debated whether it’s better to give the kids a heads up, including a warning of what type of behavior I expect, or not tell them at all. When I return to school, sometimes the kids have stated that the substitute was not fair. I look at them and say there are long-term problems and there are temporary problems and, in this case, having a substitute in my room is limited and they need to suck it up and be respectful. Many times, my students understand and can do this, knowing it’s temporary.

Understanding there are many temporaries in life can make our day-to-day existence less difficult and Isaiah beautifully uses grass and flowers to illustrate this truth.

A look from this perspective helps us deal with the temporary difficulties of life. Isaiah 40:6-7
