Are You Dependable?

1159) Are people dependable? In my experience, I have found the answer to this question is 50/50. If there is something that’s important and needs to be done by a specific, short deadline, I must seriously consider if I can depend on those who are committed to help. I often wind up doing it myself.

There was a time when two people discussed a job or situation. They both committed to specific actions, shook hands on it and it was done. There was no need to follow up and make sure. If you are a person known to be dependable, it is a valuable thing.

Because people can’t always be counted on, sometimes I transfer this to God. Maybe he isn’t someone I can count on, but if I pause and reflect on my doubts, all I need to do is look in the past and see all the times God did what he said he would do.

Loyalties and commitments with people don’t always mean they’re good for a lifetime. When God, in His faithfulness to us, promises something, he will do it. Isaiah 11:5
