Guarded

1122) As a child, going to the pool was such a special thing. The thrill of jumping into the beautiful blue water was amazing. You could do so much: play Marco-Polo; jump off the diving board; or swim to the bottom to pick up the pebbles we tossed in.

There was one thing that stood out to me on many of these pool outings. I couldn’t ever understand why someone would want to be a lifeguard. Why? Because I could see they had to be continuously vigilant and when someone was in distress in the water, then their adrenaline must have soared through their bodies. I was always glad to have a lifeguard, but was thankful they were committed to such an important job.

God is like the lifeguards I described. He continually keeps his eyes on us, searching for hearts committed to Him. He promises to give us strength through all the waters we travel. 2 Chronicles 16:9
