1111) We live in an angry world. We have road rage, riots, and shouting matches. There are more reports of “blackout rage” than ever before. All of these rub off on us. We can say it doesn’t, but at the very least, it can desensitize us from the problem.
These things do not affect God, fortunately. He doesn’t return rage for rage. Numbers 14:8 reveals he is slow to anger and abounding in love for you. He is also slow to anger and abounding in love for those you may not see eye-to-eye with; people you may even be angry with.
Why is it that God is slow to anger? It’s because God is love. (1 John 4:8)
The way to extinguish anger is to love that person or people. This does not mean you agree with how they have treated you. Instead, it means you make a choice not to get even with them; that you pray for them and sometimes, even be kind to them.
Being slow to anger benefits everyone. Can you make that choice? Numbers 14:18
