God is not Hiding

1105)  Where is God? Are you up there somewhere? I think this is a fairly common question people have verbalized throughout the ages. As I read one time in my all-time favorite book, At Home in Mitford, the author, Jan Karon has her endearing Episcopalian priest say, what most people are really asking is, is God down here? Does God concern himself at all with what is going on in our lives or those of others?

If we ask this question, we are wrestling with the problem of suffering on this earth. How could God be aware of all the horrible things that happen and not do something? The hard answer to this question is, he is. He orchestrates everything, even allowing the most horrible for his own good purposes. Sound like a horrible God? Maybe, but it’s important to note that he allowed the worst thing to happen to his son, Jesus, when he died on the cross for us. The horrible made beautiful.

Today’s verse is an invitation to ask God to visit with us, in our homes, our hearts. He promises if we seek him, we will find him and you will come to trust he is very concerned about what is happening in your life. 1 Chronicles 15:4
