1104) Awards day at an elementary school can be both an exciting and disappointing day. It is a time when students get recognized for their achievements in academics and in other ways, as well. I have always worked for schools that seek to build up all students, so at the end of the year award ceremony; we recognize every student, at least once, for the valued young people they are besides giving out academic and athletic awards.
When I consider today’s verse, these awards ceremonies come to mind and there will be at least one similarity and that is, it will be both an exciting and disappointing event.
According to the Bible, everyone will stand before the throne of God. (I’ve always wondered if everyone will be present to witness each person do this.) The books will be opened and we will receive the reward we have earned, good or bad. That should make you rejoice or tremble.
There is some fantastic news, however, getting your name entered into the Lamb’s Book of Life requires you to do nothing to earn it; it is a gift. This gift was paid for by Jesus’ death on the cross. There is one thing, though. A gift is not yours until you accept it.
Won’t you accept Jesus’ gift today? Then rejoicing at eternity’s awards ceremony will be ahead for you!
