1097) Over the years, I have had individuals say they will do something and then, when it’s time, they do not follow through and do what they committed to. Not only is this behavior poor, it is not a demonstration of love. (This type of love in Philippians 1:9 is agapē, which is the selfless, giving love and not romantic love.)
Philippians 1:10 speaks of discerning what is excellent and the Greek word for excellent is diapheronta which means to carry (or follow) through on commitments.
If you wish to show God is love (1 John 4:16), then evaluate a commitment before you make it and then, if you do, do what you say you will do.
