1091) When my siblings and I were young, my parents would not allow us to run barefooted outside until we got home from the last day of school. I can distinctly remember the soft feel of grass under my feet after I took off my shoes outside on this grand day.
Depending on where you live, going barefooted can be painful unless you have conditioned your feet. At the beginning of the warmer times of year, your feet are tender, so every pebble or stick sends quick discomfort, but as time passes, your feet become more callused and therefore protect you better.
Ephesians 6:15 tells us that part of the armor or protection of God is having feet that are ready or conditioned for battle when presenting to others the gospel of peace. Why would telling others about this gospel be confrontational? Because there are those who don’t like the idea of salvation that have nothing to do with “works”. After all, if you haven’t “earned” something, some feel it’s not legitimate. A gift of this nature takes out any possibility of thinking you saved yourself; something no one can do.
Realizing God has provided salvation, no conditions required, brings the protection of peace.
