Do You Need that Extended Warranty?

1052) There is a routine that is frequently encountered when making specific purchases and is presented to you as a question. When buying most electronics, we are asked if we want to pay for an extended warranty. I will usually answer, No, thank you.

What does this “extension” give the one who purchases it? It will mean that if the object doesn’t deliver, or it breaks down, you can take it back to get it fixed or receive a replacement. The downside of this is the expense it requires when maybe you need it or maybe not. These facts help our understanding of Ephesians 2:8

In this verse, Paul uses the words grace and faith to bring salvation. We have touched on our understanding of grace–something good you receive when you don’t deserve it, but when you couple this with faith, it emphasizes something specific. The word faith emphasizes that this unearned salvation comes with a full warranty–no extra warrantees needed.

To sum up this verse in Ephesians, we can accept the gift of salvation we don’t deserve with a full warranty, non-conditional, and non-revoking. This is an amazing gift; one we can count on and feel secure with. Amazing grace.
