1044) Have you ever bothered to read the guarantee/warranty paperwork you receive with products? I have because I’ve considered a few writing jobs that involved writing product copy (i.e. those booklets that many of us just glance at the pictures and hope we can figure out how to use whatever it is.) These tell you the “promises” these products have and the “conditions” allowing you to return them.
Here in Maine, L.L. Bean has changed their return policies. It used to be you could return something to their store and they would give you a replacement, but people brought in tents they bought and used for 20 years or a jacket that the dog ripped up and the company had to replace them. Abuse of these types of policies affects everyone.
In Galatians 5:22-23, we see another one of God’s fruits is faithfulness. This Greek word, pistis, means to give a guarantee and/or warranty. When I realized this, it changed me in a major way. Faith is not some esoteric “thing” Christians try to produce. Faith is simply that God said it and I believe it because I know it’s guaranteed. No conditions. No time expirations. It. Will. Happen.
If God gives us the fruit of faithfulness, then we are guaranteed to receive all he has promised us. This allows us to follow his model and be faithful in our relationships here on this earth.
God keeps his word, and we should also be known as a person of our word.
