The Known

1027) Here in Maine, we have some of the most breath-taking views. Pick a season, and you’ll marvel at the beauty. (See below the picture of a sunrise I took a few years ago.) Personally, I love sunrises and sunsets and as I gaze at them; I am reminded that as beautiful as it is here; it is nothing compared to what we will see and have in the next life.

In 2 Corinthians 4:18, Paul urges us to remember that everything we can see is temporary. This both encourages and frightens me. I understand in my head that the things of this world are temporary but the “unknown,” the things of this next life, are a little frightening to me. This is where I need to have faith that what God promises is true, enabling my soul to rest.
