1025) Let’s get real today. This life is full of difficulties, heartache and trials and because of that, we often seek to be comforted. Nothing wrong with that, but have you considered how many people try to get comfort? Alcohol? Drugs? Food? Gossip? Distractions? These things and more are the fruit of Satan taking a gift that God offers us and twisting it.
What? Yes. We see in 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 that God promises comfort to his children and we also know that every good and perfect gift comes from God (James 1:17) so why do we accept counterfeit gifts that come with a high price tag? The answer to that question could be because to accept God’s gift of comfort, you must have faith when the counterfeit gift doesn’t need it.
If we truly want comfort, we must go to the source of all comfort. Isn’t that smarter than accepting a “comfort” that truly does not deliver?
