989) Pets are such wonderful gifts from God. They bring us so much love and joy and I am grateful every day that I have been blessed with one. One of my dogs, Danny, used to bury things. When he was outside, he would dig a hole (which was funny to watch a dachshund dig, who was so close to the ground anyway) and bury things. Because we live in a place where there are a lot of predators, our dogs have been mostly indoor dogs and this same dog would take his Milkbones and “bury” them in the house. This usually was him finding a spot behind some furniture or underneath the floorboard heaters. Any way that he felt was safe from being eaten by the other dog in the house (Rusty).
When I read Romans 4:7, I think of Danny burying his bones. God says that when we ask his forgiveness, our sins are covered or buried. Another verse in the Bible says God removes them as far as the east is from the west. (Psalm 103:1)
How wonderful it is to have our sin and guilt buried by God, so we had better make sure we are not going out and digging it up again.
