982) For those of us who were fortunate enough to have a spiritual upbringing, many of us were taught that we are to tend to our responsibilities and let our “yes be yes and (our) no be no” (Matthew 5:37). If you commit to something, you do it.
Considering this, sometimes I take on more responsibilities than I am supposed to. If I am teaching Sunday school, how others apply the lesson is not my responsibility. Paul knew this in
Acts 28:17-31. He taught the people about Jesus’ life and purpose, but he does not take on the burden of feeling responsible for how the listeners act and react.
It is not our responsibility to take on other people’s response to our Christian witness. That is their job and God’s.
