Anytime we choose to do things opposed to God’s standards is an attempt to move God off his throne and place ourselves there. Whether we are aware in the moment this is what we are doing, it comes down to the fact that sometimes we think we can outsmart God.

The religious leaders in Acts 23:11-24  plot to kill Paul and seem to be confident in the outcome. They didn’t know that God was at work behind the scenes and even told Paul that Paul would live to testify about God in Rome.” Men of God’s choosing move Paul safely out of the area and God’s work continued.

If we could get into the habit of reminding ourselves that God is in control and that trying to take the controls away from him and use them ourselves is foolish. We cannot out-smart God.
