933) I can remember a time when I was young that I didn’t really have experience with the difficulties of life. Though being frustrated with a sibling or something of that nature, I did not know, experientially, about death, separation, betrayal, disease, and more. As I got older, I pieced together that my actions or those of someone else can create extremely difficult times.
As adults, we can wonder why these difficulties come our way. Was it our fault? Was it someone else’s fault? These things may have contributed to them, but John 9:3 tells us another possibility; that God is allowing it so others can see the mighty work of him within us.
When a parent decides not to bad-talk an ex in front of their kids. When a person keeps putting one foot in front of the other when giving up seems the best option. When someone refuses to trash-talk a person who has wronged them. These are likely to be what Jesus was referring to.
Focusing on what God is doing within you can give you the strength to not give up during difficult times.
