886) In my language arts classroom, every Monday we study the lyrics of four songs as we listen to parts of each one. We look at figures of speech that may be present; we discuss the author’s purpose, as we see it, and just plain appreciate the beauty that words and music can form together.
In our studies, there is one topic that comes up repeatedly in songs, and that is love. The need for it; the lack of it; the appreciation of it and the pain of it. I ask my young students why they think this is so prevalent and, in their simplistic answers, they recognize, to a limited extent, the power that love has.
I hope that as they grow older, they will remember our discussions and realize the true power that love has and ultimately the Creator and Demonstrator of it. Mark 12:28-34.
