“It’s interesting you speak of a shadow following you. We know, of course, that shadows are made by light.” Chaplain Miller stood up and moved over to one of his desk lamps. He removed the shade, then picked up the lamp by its base and moved around his desk to stand by Stefan.
“If I held this lamp above you with a big and powerful light pointing down, where would your shadow fall?”
“It would be below me,” Stefan answered.
“That’s right. If I moved the light to this side of you, your shadow would appear where?”
“On the other side of me.”
Chaplain Miller righted the lamp, placed it on his desk, and returned the lampshade.
“God is the filler of the dark shadows you are referring to. He shines his light of love on you, and his light isn’t just from one direction. Psalm 33:22 says, ‘May your unfailing love be with us, Lord, even as we put our hope in you.’ God’s light leaves no shadows.”
