854) In Matthew 5:43-48, Jesus speaks about how to respond to our enemies. He tells us to love our enemies and pray for those that mistreat us. After all, Jesus said, it’s easy to be nice to those who are nice to us. The rub comes when we are told to love and pray for our enemies. Why should we do this? Because that’s exactly what God did for us in sending His son to die in our place. What an example.
