The Accuser

747) One thing that has always worried me about our judicial system is, what if someone is accused of something he didn’t do? Though I think we who live in the United States are fortunate that we have the judicial system we have, there have been several occasions when this has failed; the judge pronounced, “guilty” when a person is not.

We see this unfortunate situation in Job 1. Satan accuses Job of not being such a righteous man. Satan claims Job followed God because his life is so good, but Job is not the only one who is being accused. Satan comes right out and says that God is guilty, too; that He has made it too easy on Job.

God allows Satan a semi-free hand and we know that ultimately Job stands by his faith. What an example, but have you ever considered the fact that Satan may do the same thing with us? Does he accuse you of being a hypocrite? Unworthy of God’s love? A loser that fools some? A person whose faith is pathetic? If so, you’re in good company. Satan brings many of these accusations against Job and yet, God helps Job to be strong and He will do this for us, too.

Satan may be the accuser, but his days are numbered.
