Things Unseen

736) I have a little dachshund, Boone, who is so loyal to me, he is rarely more than a few inches from wherever I am. If I’m reading while sitting on the couch, he is plastered to me. It’s funny, though, just about every evening, when it’s dark and the room is lit by a single lamp, Boone always stares at the same place on the ceiling. His eyes are big and it’s like he’s mesmerized.

I have often wondered if animals can see things that people cannot. I don’t carry this wonder too far in my thinking but I will say to Boone, “Are you looking at the angels?” and his gaze never leaves the ceiling to look at me as he usually does when I am talking to him.

2 Kings 1-17 tells us of an event where a servant of Elisha is nervous about an oncoming war. Elisha asks God to open the servant’s eyes to seeing everything, including the spirit world, and the man sees a huge army of fiery horses and chariots, giving him the courage to fight.

What boldness could we gain if we were aware there are unseen beings that are constantly fighting for and protecting us?  We can have this boldness, by faith!
