Make Up Your Mind

730) Do you remember back in our youth when we may have had crushes on someone and be so passionate about it just to have the emotional pendulum swing the other way and with it, our affections went to another? Emotional immaturity is one of these reasons this happens but have you considered that spiritual immaturity can do the same thing, specifically over who is going to call the shots in your life?

In 1 Kings 18:21, Elijah challenges Ahab to choose. “If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal is God, follow him.” It’s easy to sit back and consider this situation and think that this would not be an admonition that Elijah would give us, but is that accurate?

How many times have we considered that God wants us to love others and we choose to do things that are in direct contrast to this? How many times have we treated a loved one poorly instead of being patient and kind? How many times have we failed to do a job we knew God wanted us to do but rationalized why we could not?

These are examples of the same principle that Elijah gave Ahab. He said, “decide.” Perhaps we need to do this very thing.
