The Power of One Person

689) When you are young, it’s easy to think that one person cannot have a significant effect on others. After all, what can one person do? As age and wisdom permeate our minds and souls, we realize the power and potential of a single person.

A glance at history gives a plethora of examples of this, such as Mother Teresa, Martin Luther King Jr., and Billy Graham. These individuals made a positive permanent mark on millions of people.

Just as it is a fact that individuals can leave a positive influence on society, individuals can leave negative ones, too. This is especially true in Joshua 7. During the preparation for the battle of Jericho in Joshua 6, God specifically tells the Israelites not to take any of the valuables of Jericho, but one individual, Achan, did it anyway. Because of this, when Joshua’s army fought the city of Ai, one that should have been an easy victory, they lost and were chased as if they were cowards. When Joshua cried out to God concerning this defeat, God revealed to him the power of one person, who disobeyed and brought suffering onto the nation of Israel. Yes, we all have the power to make a difference in the world. What kind of difference will you make?
