Grace and the Law

650) Some avoid reading the Old Testament because they think that it is full of “the laws” that God gave His people. While this is true, we see from the very beginning of Genesis that God gave grace to individuals who broke the law. Adam and Eve were given proper clothes, a lesson in sacrifice and on top of that, God sent them out of the garden. He did this so they would not eat of the Tree of Life that would have doomed them to living on this earth forever in bodies that decay. God also gave Cain grace, even after Cain murdered his only brother and then when he rudely reacts to God’s words. God put some kind of mark on Cain so that he would be protected from others who might seek revenge for Cain’s deadly actions. It is the grace of God that leads people to repentance. Perhaps we should show more grace to others around us. It is more powerful that the law.  Genesis 3-4 and Titus 2:11
